63,881 people wait more than two months before treatment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
in 2022, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trust, 27% had to wait more than two months for treatment to start.
We are pleased to invite Westminster members and supporters to a vital event hosted by the Liberty Network:
"Crime and Punishment—Britain’s Modern Horror Story" to be held at the National Liberal Club at 6:30pm on the 6th May.
This special evening will feature Edward Lucas, our former Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Westminster, alongside Nick Ross, a leading campaigner for criminal justice reform, and Wendy Chamberlain MP, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for justice issues.
Together, they will explore the urgent challenges facing Britain's justice system — where despite having the highest imprisonment rates in Europe, our crime deterrence and rehabilitation rates continue to fail. They will discuss how political slogans have replaced serious reform leaving us with a system that is costly, ineffective, and inhumane.
Drawing on experience from journalism, politics and evidence-based criminal justice research, the speakers promise a lively, solutions-focused conversation.
There will be time for audience questions, and we encourage members to come ready to participate.
After the discussion, all guests are invited to stay for informal drinks, nibbles, and informal networking.
This promises to be a timely and important conversation on one of the major justice issues of our time. We hope to see many of you there.
